Why YUNGBLUD became an Afterglow
Some concerts finish with the final song. Others quietly follow you home.
Before Southside, I expected Nothing But Thieves to become the playlist I listened to afterwards.
YUNGBLUD was not the surprise because I had never heard the music before. The surprise was how different the songs felt after seeing them live.
There was an honesty to the performance that stayed with me long after the field had emptied.
Not everything was polished. Not everything was perfect. That was not the point.
It felt real.
The best concerts do not simply sound different. They leave the songs sounding different afterwards.
Over the following days I kept returning to the music.
Not to recreate the set. Not to relive the festival. Simply because the songs now carried new memories.
The dust. The heat. The crowd. The feeling of something raw and shared.
That is what an Afterglow is.
It is not the concert. It is everything the music continues to carry once the concert has finished.
That is why this became Afterglow 003.
See you in the Listening Room.
